Roles-based Test Automation
One of the unique aspects of the UTP Test methodology is the separation of test design from test automation through the introduction of a roles-based approach. Test cases are built using spreadsheets and executed on target systems using a tool called the UTP Run Engine; the UTP Run Engine reads the spreadsheets and executes the tests.
The UTP Test Methodology details the approach for the following roles – Test Manager, Test Architect, Test Designer, Test Automation Engineer and Test Executor.
Easy Integration and Implementation
Unified TestPro integrates into your environment using a five-step process: Installation, Planning, Test Design, Implementation, and Execution.
These steps are fully defined and documented for ease of implementation. SDT has a fully trained automation team to assist you, at whatever level desired. Our consultants will customize Unified TestPro to accommodate your test objectives, ensure that you’re up and
running and producing real results quickly, provide on-site training to all team members, and provide coaching and follow up to ensure that you fully realize the benefits of Unified TestPro.
An Integrated Set of Tools
UTP is an integrated set of tools that assist you with the entire test design and automation processes. These tools make it easy to specify, create and maintain the Keywords and test cases. There are three Workbenches designed to help automate the tasks performed by the Test Designers, Automation Engineers and Test Executors:
• UTP DesignBench – used by Test Designers to create the Actions Word specification and the new test cases using those Keywords.
• UTP BuildBench – used by Automation Engineers to create and maintain Keyword functions and, when used with WinRunner, automatically generate the Keyword code.
• UTP RunBench – used by Test Executors to select sets of test cases for execution and automatically regenerate the spreadsheets containing those test cases.
• UTP RunEngine – processes the spreadsheets produced by the UTP RunBench; executes the tests; generates the test result reports.
