SDT Extends Its Leadership in Keyword-Driven Software Test Automation
UTP® 7.5 Functional Test Tool now enabled for JAVA and End-to-End Testing
SAN JOSE, Calif., February 1, 2005 – SDT, a company dedicated to transforming software testing, today announced Unified TestPro® 7.5 (UTP® 7.5), extending its testing capability to include the Java development environment AWT and Swing using JRE 1.3.1 thru JRE 1.4.1. UTP® 7.5 also supports applets in Internet Explorer. This latest release enhances the Test Designer View with a new Find and Replace capability and a screen resize function for better viewing. Additionally, UTP® provides the capability to synchronize and run tests across multiple hardware environments – hand-held to mainframe to desktop – providing a true End-to-End testing capability.
“Software development and test are complex, especially when trying to integrate legacy systems with new applications developed in new environments across multiple hardware and software platforms and technologies. We continue to enhance our flagship product with additional development environments, integration with other test tools and, now, with UTP 7.5, allow complete End-to-End testing capability with a single interface. UTP’s unified testing approach allows all participants in the software quality process to take advantage of its test asset repository of keywords and test cases.” said Edward Kit, founder and president of SDT, and a well-known industry leader, test expert, author and keynote speaker. “The industry needs practical test tools to enable more comprehensive testing of higher complexity applications more quickly and at less cost.”
UTP leapfrogs previous generations of functional tools, allowing organizations to develop and run tests in less time, scale their tests across multiple projects and applications, and reduce their reliance on technical programmers. UTP’s Keyword-driven approach transcends capture/playback and object-level scriptless tools by offering tests based on real business functions at a higher level of abstraction. As a result, initial test case development and maintenance costs are reduced by 50 – 60%. The latest version of SDT’s popular UTP tool, UTP 7.5, adds to the already integrated Keyword-driven approach and development environment (IDE) by adding support for the JAVA development environment. UTP continues to enhance this industry-leading product to support more development communities. UTP now encompasses Java, .NET, Microsoft® Visual Basic® for Applications (VBA) development system, Win32 API (MFC) windows and objects, Web Objects and Applets (IE5.5 and above), and ActiveX Grids and tables.
UTP offers a feature-rich integrated development environment provides complete independence from other test execution tools, while also supporting a wide range of other interface driver tools, if required. Upcoming versions will include an interface to TestQuest’s TestQuest Pro and Mercury Interactive’s Quality Center.
