SDT Opens New Test Centers to support its Testing Services RightSourcing Program
Extends capability to provide the best in testing services
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 1, 2005 – SDT, a company dedicated to transforming software testing, today announced a Test Services RightSourcing Program with the opening of new Test Centers in Norman, OK and Hyderabad, India. Both Test Centers are staffed with senior-level test designers and Automation Engineers.
SDT completed a broad study of the results of outsourcing the software test function across multiple companies and industries within the past few months. Based on extensive research, a model that includes a mix of resources and locations designed to improve communication, knowledge transfer, and project management while minimizing travel and training costs, and cultural and time zone differences was developed.
“Software testing is becoming an increasingly critical component of the development life cycle and, as such, demands focus and experience. Outsourcing has increasingly been done at offshore facilities where costs are lower, but unfortunately, so is test effectiveness. Often, by the time companies recognize their software quality issues, customers have seen them, too. Companies have attempted to use 100% offshore resources or a combination of offshore and onsite resources as an outsourcing solution. Neither works effectively by itself. Without an integrated approach providing a proven, defined test process, automation framework, tools, and training, outsourcing lacks the foundation for success.” said Edward Kit, founder and president of SDT, and a well-known industry leader, and test expert. “We saw the need for a complete outsourcing solution and are implementing a model that uses a combination of offshore and onshore test centers. SDT’s certified test staff will work at SDT’s Offshore Test Center, at SDT's low-cost Onshore Test Center, and onsite at Company location(s). “RightSourcing” combines the positive benefits of outsourcing while mitigating the risk and providing an integrated foundation for success.”
The study also recommends that a company contemplating outsourcing create an Outsource Test Management Group (OTMG) to dedicate internal resources to qualify vendors, qualify projects, and to coordinate and oversee the outsourcing process. This concentrates the experience and expertise for the enterprise and better coordinates various test activities. A White Paper based on the study is available on the SDT website.
